JEAN BAIARDI
Suman Rai once said that “You are the sum of your life experiences. The more you experience the more interesting your life gets.” I was born in New York City and moved to Connecticut where I was the only five year old with a hint of a tough city accent and who also knew what a sample sale was.
I spent my teenage years working in retail in Westport, CT where I became aware that fashion was so much more nuanced then what the mannequins were wearing in the windows at the local mall’s GAP. Later on I attended Hamilton College, in upstate New York. The tremendous experience widened my eyes and opened me up to a variety of ideas, artists and thinkers. Then along came life in New York City. I rejected the more traditional path of my investment bank bound classmates, and instead spent time developing my creativity in jobs such as an advertising copywriter and working actress.
This multitude of experiences has shaped my creativity and sensibilities, and has given me an infinite well to draw upon. Also, on a more practical level, I have worked as a stylist at wide range of stores, from fashion houses on Rodeo Drive such as St. John to smaller boutique settings like Tory Burch. I have honed my eye for style in classes at The School of Style. I quite simply know what works and what doesn’t.
But enough about me. Where do you fit in and how does my experiential philosophy help you? You are a person who is infinitely complex and wholly unique. Your life is one of a kind, and your sense of style should echo this individuality. Nobody can duplicate you, and I will get to the root of who you are, your story if you will, and together we will create a look that is entirely yours. Because style is the essence of you, “Instant Language” as Muiccia Prada said.
